Five Things You Didn't Know About Roberto Firmino

Brazil forward, Roberto Firmino recently signed with Liverpool from Hoffenheim for £29 million and has been selected as the next star in our 5 Things feature.

Firmino has come off a wonderful season with the Bundesliga club, scoring 10 goals and assisting in 12 more over 36 appearances, but here are five things you may or may not have known about the Brazilian.

1) The Brazilian hails from the city of Maceio, the same birthplace of three-time World Cup winner Mario Zagallo, who claimed the honour twice as a player and once as a manager.

2) At the age of 14 Firmino moved to Florianopolis, 3,000km away from his family to try and make it as a pro. He didn't see his mother for over a year, but that didn't stop him from achieving his dream.

3) Firmino began his professional career back in 2009 with Brazilian Serie B team Figueirense. He made 38 appearances for Figueirense, scoring eight goals, before joining Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in January 2011.

4) The playmaker says Ronaldinho is the player he idolises, but he is also a massive fan of stars such as Ronaldo, Romario and Rivaldo.

5) The 23-year-old made his international debut on 12 November 2014 in a friendly against Turkey, and six days later scored his first international goals.
