Man United PSV Agree €30m 'Next Ronaldo' Deal
The Dutch international has recently made the headlines after signing with the Red Devils and due to that he has been closed compared to the clubs former winger Cristiano Ronaldo. The 21-year-old has was the Eredivisie's top goal scorer this season and played under Louis Van Gaal in the 2014 World Cup.
1) He is the youngest Dutch player to ever score at the World Cup
The 21-year-old became the youngest ever Dutch player to score in a FIFA World Cup at the age of 20 years and four months when he netted against Australia in the group stage.
2) He has African heritage
Memphis Depay was born by a Ghanaian father and Dutch mother in the southern Dutch town of Moordrecht, a small village just outside Rotterdam in 1994.
3) He only wear's 'Memphis' on the back of his playing shirt
The Dutchman's parents divorced when he was only four years old and was raised by his mother and grandparents. He has suffered with a lot of emotional pain during his growing up and for that reason he dropped Depay from the back of his jersey, as his dad cut contact with the family.
4) He is very fond of tattoos
Depay has a many tattoos on his body already and one is a tribute to his grandfather, who passed away on his 15th birthday. His grandfather becoming a father figure in the absence of his actual dad and went to all his games before his passing.
5) He is compared to Cristiano Ronaldo
According to a former Manchester United scout Depay has all the making to be the Red Devils next Ronaldo: "He has skill compared to a young Cristiano Ronaldo. He Is very lively, technically unbelievable, very skilful, very fast, he has a great goalscoring record, he can shoot from every distance - he has everything."
