English Premier League Report: Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur 26 October 2020

Result: Burnley 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Date: 26 October 2020

Venue: Turf Moor

Son Heung-Min bagged his eighth goal of the Premier League season to hand Tottenham Hotspur a 1-0 win away to Burnley.

Gareth Bale dropped to the bench after his UEFA Europa League cameo while there was no place in the squad for Dele Alli once again.

Burnley had the ball in the back of the net on 21 minutes through Ashley Barnes' effort in the box, but the strike was ruled out for offside.

While Spurs were struggling to carve out chances, the visitors had the game's first effort on target in the 38th minute when Ashley Westwood saw his first-time drive gathered by Hugo Lloris.

The Spurs shot-stopper was called upon a few minutes later, this time getting down to his left to keep out
Jóhann Berg Gudmundsson's strike just before the break.

With the start of the second half continuing in similar fashion to the first, Jose Mourinho introduced Erik Lamela for Lucas Moura on the hour mark.

However, Burnley went agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock on 72 minutes but James Tarkowski saw his header cleared off the line by Harry Kane.

Kane then turned provider four minutes later as his header back into the box found Son who nodded home from close range for his eighth league goal of the season.

The hosts were unable to find a way back into the contest as Spurs held on for the slender win to move up to spot.
