English Premier League

Result: Arsenal 5-0 Burnley

Date:  06 May 2018

Venue: Emirates Stadium

Arsene Wenger's final home game in charge of Arsenal ended in style as the Gunners thrashed Burnley 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Gunners carved out the game's first chance after 11 minutes when Sead Kolasinac sent a cross towards Piere-Emerick Aubameyang, but Kevin Long popped up with a fine tackle to thwart the Gabon international.

Aubameyang was not to be denied three minutes later, though, as the striker turned home Alexandre Lacazette's low cross from close range.

The visitors were forced into an early change as Sam Vokes replaced Ashley Barnes, who injured his shoulder.

Despite the bright start by the Gunners, chances were hard to come by after 30 minutes while Burnely barley showed any attacking intent.

However, Arsenal doubled their lead on the stroke half-time as Hector Bellerin sent a cross to the near post, where Lacazette was on hand to tap home.

The lead was extended 10 minutes into the second half as Jack Wilshere drove forward before picking out Kolasinac, who drilled the ball into the bottom corner.

The fourth goal arrived on 64 minutes as a swift counter attack saw Alex Iwobi combine with Aubameyang before smashing the ball into the top corner.

Wenger rang the changes after 70 minutes as Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey replaced Wilshere and Lacazette.

Five minutes later, the Gunners bagged a fifth goal, with Aubameyang completing his brace by turning home Bellerin's cross in the box, 5-0.

Per Mertesacker was introduced for the final stages in his final home game, replacing Callum Chambers.

In the end, 5-0 was how the score remained as Wenger signed off at the Emirates Stadium in style.
