Eden Hazard Beats Manchester City & United Stars To Special Award

Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard beat a Manchester City and Manchester United star to a special award on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old, who lifted the Premier League title with the Blues last season, was named the Best Belgian Player in a Foreign League for 2017.

Hazard edged EPL rival Kevin De Bruyne by 11 votes, while Dries Mertens found himself 56 votes behind and Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku finished in fourth place.

The Chelsea playmaker was unable to attend the ceremony in his home country due to commitments with boot sponsors Nike, but did share a few words.

"My first prize in Belgium and certainly not my last one," Hazard said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

Hazard also admitted that he would have voted for Napoli attacker Mertens to receive the award.

"What a good year he had. With a lot of goals too," the former Lille star added.

"I go for him because he also played in a position that was not actually his. He was not an attacker."

Chelsea Star Adds Fuel To Real Rumours

Hazard has made 35 appearances for Chelsea so far this season, scoring 13 goals and assisting nine further strikes.
