Former Manchester United striker, Diego Forlan has taken a swipe at Barcelona and Real Madrid while discussing Radamel Falcao's form at his former club.
Wenger: Di Maria Almost Signed For Arsenal
Forlan, while discussing Falcao's stay at the English club, said that the Spanish giants have copied Manchester United's ideas in the commercial market.
"Falcao had played very little football when he signed for Manchester United, the world's greatest football club, the one Barcelona and Real Madrid copy their commercial ideas from," he wrote in his weekly column for the National.
Forlan continued to say that Falcao is under a lot of pressure due to his wages and that he will struggle to recover from his injury sustained while playing for Monaco last year.
"Because Falcao had built this huge reputation and because he was earning a lot of money, great things were expected but it was never going to be straightforward," Forlan added.
"Nobody comes back from a serious injury and is the same after a month or even three months. You should play in the reserves; you get your muscle back and regain your match rhythm."
Diego Forlan spent two unsuccessful years at Manchester United, but went on to enjoy successful spells with Villarreal and Atletico Madrid. He also won the Golden Ball at the 2010 World Cup.
