Breaking: Jose Mourinho Sacked By Tottenham Hotspur

Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been reported today that the Portuguese tactician has been fired by the Lilywhites.

According to The Guardian, Mourinho was expected to take charge of Spurs for their Carabao Cup final against Manchester City this coming weekend, but was relieved of his duties less than 24 hours after the club announced its intention to take part in the controversial European Super League.

The 58-year-old took over from Mauricio Pochettino in 2019 after the Argentine's sacking, with the London club now the first team Mourinho has failed to win silverware with.

Spurs have since confirmed Mourinho's sacking in a statement on Twitter.

Club chairman Daniel Levy has released a statement of his own regarding the decision, saying he regrets that things with Mourinho did not work out.

"Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a Club," he said, according to Spurs' website.

"Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic. On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged. He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution."
