Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed how Gabriel Jesus reacted to being left out of the Brazil squad despite his impressive start to the season.

The Brazilian has certainly adjusted well to life at the Emirates Stadium after registering four goals and three assists in seven Premier League matches.

However, that form was not good enough to earn a call-up to the Brazil squad for the final international break before the World Cup in November.

"He is incredibly humble. He accepted the decision and the way he trained was just: 'ok, I need to improve, I need to do more," Arteta said, as per Goal.

I really want to be there, it is a big aspiration for me and an incredible opportunity and I am in the right place to do that'. I think we will see that on the pitch again."

Jesus will get a taste of his first North London derby on Saturday but is also at risk of picking up another yellow, which will rule him out of the game against Liverpool.

"There is a thin balance," Arteta said, according to Metro.

"It is in his nature. He gets a lot of contact and he puts his foot and his body across the line in any situation.

"We've been a bit unlucky with the amount of bookings he has had. Some of them we cannot prevent because they were a little bit disciplinary, the yellow cards, but yeah, we want to avoid that."
