Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are no match for English giants Manchester United, who have the highest wage bill in world football, according to a latest global sports salary survey.

The list, which was published by Sporting Intelligence, suggests that the average first team player at the Red Devils earns around £110 962 (R2 million) per week and that adds up too £5.77 million (R104.13 million) per player on average per year.
Reigning La Liga champions Barcelona are football's second highest wage payers with an average annual salary of £5.65 million (R101.97 million), followed by another Premier League side in Manchester City, who is on £5.42 million (R97.82 million).
Eleven-time UEFA Champions winners Real Madrid are down to fourth position on the list, as their average wage sits at around £5.05 million (R91.14 million) per year.

Juventus are Serie A's highest playing club, while the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 are represented by Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
