Who Are Real Madrid & FC Barcelona's Top Performers?

Who Are Real Madrid & FC Barcelona's Top Performers?

Neymar & Ronaldo

Real Madrid host FC Barcelona in El Clasico on Saturday, so we had a look at both side's top five performers so far this season.

The stats confirm the general feeling that the Catalans' enter the game in better form, with their top two players – based on WhoScored.com ratings – outperforming Real's best two stars.

Neymar (8.63) leads the ranking ahead of Lionel Messi (8.44), while Real's best performer is Marcelo (7.88).

Cristiano Ronaldo (7.70) only appears in fifth place behind Barcelona's Luis Suarez (7.79).

It's interesting to see that three of Los Blancos' top performers are defensive players – not surprising given the fact that they have only conceded six goals so far.

Meanwhile, Barcelona's defence has been a bit more leaky with 12 goals conceded already, but their forwards have more than made up for that.

Here are the top five performers going into El Clasico, based on WhoScored.com's ratings (only players who have featured in more than five games were considered):

FC Barcelona

1) Neymar: 11 goals, 3 assists, 3 Man of the Match awards – 8.63 rating

2) Lionel Messi: 3 goals, 2 assists, 3 Man of the Match awards – 8.44

3) Luis Suarez: 9 goals, 3 assists, 1 Man of the Match award– 7.79

4) Sergi Roberto: 3 assists, 2 Man of the Match awards – 7.29

5) Sergio Busquets – 7.15

Real Madrid

1) Marcelo: 2 goals, 1 assist, 2 Man of the Match awards – 7.88

2) Cristiano Ronaldo: 8 goals, 2 assists, 2 Man of the Match awards – 7.70

3) Sergio Ramos: 1 goal – 7.64

4) Karim Benzema: 6 goals, 1 Man of the Match award – 7.60
