FC Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez was on target in Uruguay's 2-2 draw with guests Japan in their second Group C match at the 2019 Copa America.
After getting his tournament off to a great start against Ecuador, a confident Suarez tried stunning the crowd from the kick-off, taking a shot at goal almost as soon as the starting whistle sounded.
The Blaugrana man's effort was just inches from dropping in over goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima, an effort that would have undoubtedly been the best goal of the tournament so far.
Japan found the surprise lead 25 minutes into the match through Koji Miyoshi, who finished tidily past veteran shot-stopper Fernando Muslera.
Suarez equalised for Uruguay seven minutes later, though, after a lengthy delay as the match official consulted VAR moments after Edinson Cavani went down in the box following a challenge from Naomichi Ueda.
With the teams having gone into half-time level, it was Japan who started the second half more brightly. Miyoshi put his country back in front on 59 minutes, after latching on to a rebound in the Uruguay box, but goalkeeper Muslera was perhaps to blame this time around.
Uruguay pushed for yet another equaliser, and were rewarded for their efforts and fight in the 66th minute when Jose Gimenez sent his header into the back of the net after beating his marker during a corner.
The Uruguayans went close in the 80th minute when Suarez hit the crossbar with a header in the box, while he would have perhaps been disappointed again in the last minute of injury time when he dragged a shot wide.
That was the last chance of the match, with the scoreline staying 2-2.
