"Lionel Messi Is A Master Of The Ball"

"Lionel Messi Is A Master Of The Ball"

Uruguay manager Oscar Tabarez has dubbed FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi a "master of the ball" after he saw his side go down 1-0 against Argentina in the Copa America.

Aguero Goal Enough To See Off Uruguay

Argentina's goal on the night was scored by Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, assisted by Pablo Zabaleta's cross which was set up by Messi.

The Argentine captain was his usually self during the game and even though he didn't score he did cause Uruguay many problems, according to Tabarez.

"We prepared a collective strategy today, but Messi is unpredictable, because you never know what he is going to do, there is always a surprise," he said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

"He is a master of the ball, has great speed and mentally anticipates the movements of the defenders. He is always one second ahead.

"In this Argentina system, the ball is almost never straight down the left wing, they move diagonally from right to left and he knows he can be most dangerous when he carries the ball left and connects with Aguero.

"They have a close relationship, where Aguero picks the pass he wants and Messi puts it there."

Furious Messi Refused Man Of The Match Award

The win saw Argentina and Paraguay take hold of Group B, while Uruguay and Jamaica are stuck in third and fourth spot.
