Furious Lionel Messi Slams 'Bullsh*t' Referee After Copa America Exit

Furious Lionel Messi Slams 'Bullsh*t' Referee After Copa America Exit

Lionel Messi & Argentina lost 2-0 to Brazil

Argentina captain Lionel Messi was furious after his side were knocked out of the Copa America by Brazil, slamming the referee for his 'bullsh*t' calls.

Messi and Argentina were beaten 2-0 by Brazil courtesy of goals by Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino. The Albiceleste, who hit the woodwork twice, thus missed the chance to book their third successive Copa America final and a chance to lift their first international trophy since 1993.

As a consequence, Messi was outraged with the match officials because he felt Argentina should have had a penalty before Brazil's second goal and another later in the game.

"They (Brazil) were not better than us. They found the net early and the second goal came after a penalty (to Aguero) they (the match officials) didn't award," he said, as quoted by the Daily Express.

"They (the officials) had booked a lot of bullsh*t, but they didn't even check the VAR, that's incredible.

"That happened all over the game. At the first glance of contact, they ruled in their (Brazil's) favour and this kind of bullsh*t distracted us from the game.

"There are no excuses for us, but we need to review this, analyse it and let's hope CONMEBOL does something about it.

"I think we played a great game. We made a great effort, and they were not superior to us."

Messi continues his trophy drought with Argentina's senior side, having lost four finals in his national team career so far. He did, though, win the 2005 U20 World Cup and the 2008 Olympic games with the Albiceleste.
