The Rosario native has enjoyed an illustrious playing career, especially with his national team.

The attacker has won Olympic gold and added continental and global titles to his trophy cabinet in recent years, having won the 2021 Copa America and the 2022 FIFA World Cup with the South American juggernauts.

The former Paris Saint-Germain talisman played a major role in the latter triumphs as he scored in the finals of both, but the 36-year-old has now confirmed he will no longer be providing iconic moments for his nation as the ongoing Copa America will be the last time he plays for his nation.

Di Maria captained La Albiceleste in their 2-0 victory over Peru on Sunday morning, and claimed afterwards that there was no chance of him returning to the national team beyond the tournament in the United States of America.

"I'm enjoying every moment of these last few games with Argentina. At times, I'm a little melancholic, but the decision has already been made," he said, as per Marca.
