Copa America: Pictures: Red Cards, Goals, Drama As Brazil & Peru Advance

Brazil 1-0 Chile

Brazil secured their ticket to the Copa America semi-finals with a slender win over Chile at Estádio Nilton Santos.

Selecao coach Tite made eight changes from the last game, with Marquinhos, Renan Lodi and Roberto Firmino retaining their places.

Chile, meanwhile, welcomed back Alexis Sanchez after he missed the group stage phase due to injury while Sebastian Vegas and Erick Pulgar were also handed starts.

While Brazil created most of the chances in the first half, they had to wait until the second for the game's only goal as second-half substitute Lucas Paqueta combined with Neymar before firing home.

Things turned sour a minute later when Brazil were reduced to 10 men after Gabriel Jesus was shown a straight red card for catching Eugenio Mena in the face with a high boot.

Peru 3-3 Paraguay

Peru advanced to the final four after defeating Paraguay on penalties in a dramatic encounter on Friday night.

It was a roller-coster evening that had Peru 2-1 up in the first half after an own goal from Gustavo Gomez and a solitary strike from Gianluca Lapadula cancelled out Gomez's opener for Paraguay.

Junior Alonso put Paraguay back on level terms and Peru thought they had a winner when Victor Flores made it 3-2 on 80 minutes, but Gabriel Avalos struck in the 90th minute to send the game to extra-time, while both teams had players sent off, first Gomez for Paraguay before Andre Carrillo was given his marching orders.

After neither side could find a winner in extra-time, the game went to a penalty shoot-out where Peru held their nerve to triumph 4-3.
