Brazil Announce Copa America Squad, 8 Stars Snubbed

Brazil coach Tite has announced his final 23-man Copa America squad tasked with lifting the trophy for the first time in 12 years, but snubbed eight high-profile players, including two Real Madrid stars.

The Selecao, who were surprisingly knocked out in the group stage of the 2016 edition of the tournament, will be keen to lift their ninth Copa America title later this year.

Brazil, who are the hosts of the competition, will face Bolivia in the opening game on 14 June, before facing Venezuela four days later and wrapping up their group stage against Peru on 22 June.

Tite took over as Brazil coach following their Copa debacle in 2016, and his side has lost just two games under his leadership – one of them being the 2-1 defeat to Belgium at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

However, they have won seven of their eight games since – drawing the other – and will go into the tournament as favourites.
