Many of the club's supporters were left disappointed when Guardiola and City ended the 2016/17 campaign trophyless, especially after the excitement that came with the manager's arrival in July 2016.
However, the Spaniard was left elated with his players following their display in the League Cup final on Sunday, during which goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva secured silverware for the Citizens.

City will now be able to fully focus on retaining their lead at the top of the Premier League, while their 4-0 away win over Basel in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie means they are all but through to the next round of the European competition.
