Liverpool will meet Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final after defeating Fulham 3-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

Carabao Cup

Result: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (2-3 agg.)

Date: 24 January 2024

Venue: Craven Cottage

Diogo Jota was surprisingly left on the bench despite scoring a brace against Bournemouth over the weekend, while Caoimhin Kelleher started ahead of Alisson between the sticks.

After taking a 2-1 lead from the first leg, the Reds opened the scoring on ten minutes when Luis Diaz did well to control a long ball from Jarrell Quansah, before firing home at Bern Leno's near post.

The Reds had the ball in the back of the net for a second time on 27 minutes when Diaz slammed home from close range, but the celebration was cut short as the Darwin Nunez was deemed offside in the build-up.

Fulham, meanwhile, were quite disappointing going forward in the first half and barely threatened Kelleher between the sticks, which was a disappointing considering the threat they carried in the first leg.

The hosts nearly pulled one back eight minutes after the break Tosin Adarabioyo got on the end of Willian's cross and headed the ball into the path of Andreas Pereira, who rattled the upright.

Fulham did manage to pull level on the night in the 77th minute as former Reds winger Harry Wilson skipped past his marker on the left before picking out Issa Diop, to slot home from close range.

The home side threw everything forward in search of an equaliser, which would have taken them to the final on the away goals rule but Klopp's men remained resolute and held on to secure the spot in the final.
