After Burnley managed to secure just one victory in their opening 13 top-flight matches of the 2023/24 campaign, it seemed the Clarets were destined to return to the EFL Championship the following season.
The Lancashire-based outfit did improve their results as the campaign progressed, with it, at one point, appearing that they had an outside chance of escaping the relegation zone towards the latter stages of the season, but, ultimately, they failed and now they are back in the second tier of English football.
Their manager Vincent Kompany helped them gain promotion from the Championship in emphatic fashion in 2022/23, and it now seems that, for the 2024/25 campaign, they may have do it without him as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Belgian tactician is among the candidates being considered by German giants Bayern Munich.
It is further claimed that the Bavarian giants have already contacted the former Manchester City central defender, and that there is interest on the 38-year-old's part in taking on the challenge of leading Die Roten, who has previous experience in Germany having played for Hamburg, while he is also fluent in the language.
The six-time European champions are believed to have already been rejected by several top candidates such as Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick as their search for Thomas Tuchel's successors continues.
