The Spanish shot-stopper bid farewell to the Theatre of Dreams this month after 12 years of service to the Mancunians.
The record English champions decided against renewing the goalkeeper's contract after it expired on 30 June 2023, with the Madrid native now a free agent.
It was rumoured that the Bavarian giants were interested in bringing the 32-year-old to the Allianz Arena after the club confirmed that 2014 FIFA World Cup winner Neuer was still being plagued by a leg injury.
The German champions are believed to want a strong back-up to provide competition for the club legend, but according to Sky Sports Germany, Bayern have decided that De Gea does not fit their criteria.
Per the abovementioned news outlet, the Spaniard's wage demands are also too high for the Bavarians.
Bayern recently loaned Alexander Nubel out to Stuttgart, and are expecting the sale of Yann Sommer to Inter Milan as well, so getting in an adequate No. 2 for Neuer is of the essence.

De Gea's compatriots David Raya of Brentford and Robert Sanchez of Brighton Hove Albion have also been mooted as possible acquisitions for Die Roten. However, there does not appear to be a clear frontrunner in Bayern's search for a new goalkeeper.
