Bundesliga: Robert Lewandowski Inspires Bayern Munich To Rampant Win

Bundesliga: Robert Lewandowski Inspires Bayern Munich To Rampant Win

Bayern Munich pulled further clear at the top of the Bundesliga with a 5-1 hammering of FC Koln on Saturday evening.

Just a single switch up from the Bavarians following their midweek win over Lazio showed in Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who filled in for Kingsley Coman with Thomas Muller on the bench.

Bayern took the lead towards 20 minutes when Choupo-Moting peeled away in the area to send a ball from Leon Goretzka past goalkeeper Timo Horn.

Goretzka was at the forefront again on 33 minutes as he set up Robert Lewandowski to fire in their second following a one-two on the edge of the six-yard area for his 27th league goal.

As a result, the Polish striker has scored the most league goals after 23 rounds of matches.

Soon after the break Ellyes Skhiri capitalised on confusion in the Bayern defence to slot home after carving the slightest of angles.

Koln's hopes of a comeback were put to bed later on when Lewandowski completed his brace with a stern finish on the turn.

Gnabry made it four in the latter stages with a simple finish from a ball across the area by Lucas Hernandez.

It got worse for the visitors before full-time when Gnabry grabbed his brace with a free header from a cutback by Goretzka, as the tie concluded.

Borussia Dortmund revived their top-four hopes in the Bundesliga through a 3-0 victory over Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday evening.

Star striker Erling Braut Haaland as always led the line for the home side alongside Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus and Gio Reyna.

It was Dortmund who started brightly early on with a close-range shot from Jude Bellingham forcing a block before Reyna drilled a ball from Haaland wide, as Arminia held on for a goalless first half.

However, Dortmund dusted off the slow opening to go ahead after halftime through Mahmoud Dahoud who made use of a ball from Sancho to find the bottom-corner.

Sancho reversed roles before the closing quarter to fire home from the spot after Reus drew a foul on Amos Pieper in the danger area.

Dortmund chased more goals towards the end with Thorgan Hazard in for Reyna and struck clear through Reinier Jesus Carvalho following a ball from Haaland, thus it finished.
