Venue: Stadion An der Alten Försterei
Bayer Leverkusen missed the chance to move second on the Bundesliga table after suffering defeat to Union Berlin, who netted a late winner on Friday night.
After comfortably seeing off Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Pokal this week, Patrik Schick was restored the attack alongside as Lucas Alario dropped to the bench.
The hosts nearly bagged the opening goal on five minutes when Marvin Friedrich saw his header scrape the upright from Christopher Trimmel's corner.
After a lively start, Berlin were forced into a first-half re-shuffle after Becker picked up an injury after colliding with Faycal Tapsoba. He was replaced by Cedric Teuchert.
Leverkusen went close to taking the lead on 37 minutes but Nadiem Amiri saw his effort turned away by Luthe before Kerem Demiraby sent an effort just wide moments later.
Five minutes into the second half, Berlin's began to grow as Grischa Prömel rattled the frame of the goal with a powerful strike that had Leverkusen shot-stopper Lukáš Hrádecký beaten.
Leverkusen were nearly caught out on the counter after the hour mark, with Trimmel going close with an effort from the edge of the box as the game began to open.
Berlin would eventually get their reward on 88 minutes thanks to Teuchert's finish after being sent clear by Promels as they move up to fourth spot with the win.
