Borussia Dortmund got their Bundesliga title charge back on track with a 3-1 win over RB Leipzig, who missed the chance to move top on Saturday night.
Both sides headed into the clash with incentives after Bayern Munich had suffered defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday evening.
The visitors were still without Thorgan Hazard and Jude Bellingham as Erling Haaland was joined in the attack by Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus.
Despite both sides needing a win, the game's first chance arrived on 25 minutes as Leipzig's Yussuf Poulsen saw his header saved by Roman Burki.
Dortmund were forced into a first-half re-shuffle five minutes later, after Axel Witsel picked up a knock and was replaced by Emre Can.
While the visitors were unable to carve chances in the first, Leipzig went close just before the halftime break when Dani Olmo sent is powerful effort inches of the crossbar.
However, Dortmund broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half when Jadon Sancho bagged his second league goal of the campaign after being set up by Reus.
Leipzig responded with a double change as Emil Forsberg and Marcel Sabitzer made way for Lukas Klostermann and Alexander Sorloth for the final 30 minutes.
However, it was Dortmund who got the next goal in the 71st minute after Haaland headed home Sancho's cross for his 11th league goal of the season.
Haaland sealed the win for Dortmund after completing his brace with six minutes left on the clock with a close-range finish, while Sorloth managed to bag a late consolation for Leipzig.
