Borussia Dortmund consolidated third position on the Bundesliga table after a 3-0 victory over Schalke in the Revierderby on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts were creating chances in the opening exchanges but were thwarted by the brilliance of goalkeeper Frederic Ronnow between the sticks.
Mahmoud Dahoud was unlucky not to break the deadlock for Dortmund on the half-hour mark with a long range strike that came off the crossbar.
Lucien Favre's charges kept on putting Schalke under pressure in the closing phase of the first stanza but they could not carve out clear openings and the first stanza ended without goals as a result.
Manuel Akanji finally broke the deadlock for BVB 11 minutes inside the second stanza with a close range finish after a rebound inside the box.
Haaland made it 2-0 on the hour-mark with a cheeky lob over Ronnow after he was teed up by Sancho.
Mats Hummels put the game to bed with the third goal for Dortmund in the last 12 minutes with a bullet header into the top corner after a cross by Raphael Guerreiro.
As a result, the hosts clinched their third consecutive win in the league while Schalke remain winless.
