Having seemingly entered the race late, Bayern Munich have reportedly beaten Manchester United to the signing of one of the Red Devils' main targets.

Prior to the off-season transfer window opening for English sides, the record Premier League champions were rumoured to be the favourites to land South Korea international Kim Min-jae's signature from Napoli.
The central defender arrived in Naples from Fenerbahce at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign and helped Gli Azzurri capture their first Serie A title in 33 years, consequently grabbing the attention of some of Europe's biggest sides.
United were hotly tipped to land the 26-year-old's services, but those negotiations never reached the bidding phase, nor did the EPL giants offer a contract to the player as they focused on strengthening their midfield before any other position.
As a result, Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel appears to have pounced on the three-time European champions' hesitancy, and according to Sky Sports Germany, the Bundesliga champions are now on the verge of completing the Gyeongnam native's signing.
The English side was said to be in the race till the very end, even contemplating a late transfer bid, but the South Korean has ultimately chosen to become Die Roten's newest player.

The same report claims that Kim will sign a five-year deal at the Allianz Arena and earn a gross annual salary of between €10 million (R203 million) and €12 million (R244 million).
The ball-playing centre-back is believed to have a release clause in the region of €50 million (R1 billion) in his deal with Napoli, and given Lucas Hernandez's expected departure for Paris Saint-Germain, the German outfit is anticipated to trigger it in the coming days.
