Paris Saint-Germain's head coach has revealed what he believes it will take for Kylian Mbappe to succeed Lionel Messi as a winner of the illustrious Ballon d'Or award.

At the latest Ballon d'Or awards ceremony this week, the Bondy native finished in the podium places for the famed Golden Ball prize for the first time in his career.
Ultimately, it was his former PSG teammate Messi who took home the honour as he extended his record haul to eight.
The Rosario native seemingly passed the baton of winning the prize to a new would-be duopoly in Mbappe and the man who finished second, Erling Haaland, claiming in his acceptance speech that both would win the Ballon d'Or in the future.
While the Rosario native may feel his Paris-born counterpart will eventually win the Ballon d'Or, Mbappe's head coach Luis Enrique has claimed that in order to achieve this, he will also have to win major trophies.
"In addition to your individual contribution, it is evident that there must be trophies, whether with the national team or with your team," the Spanish tactician told members of the media, as per Sport.
While the 24-year-old did score only the second-ever hat-trick in FIFA World Cup final history in December, consequently winning the 2022 tournament's Golden Boot, and also got his hands on a Ligue 1 title once again, this perhaps pales in comparison to actually winning the World Cup or capturing a treble for your club.
Enrique did, however, echo Messi's sentiments that Mbappe would eventually win the individual prize.

"I have no doubt that he will win several Ballon d'Ors," the former Barcelona and Spain national team boss added.
