The official date for the 2024 Ballon d'Or has been confirmed as the world waits to see who will be crowned the best footballer on the planet this year.

As per the Ballon d'Or's official X account, the annual ceremony will be held on 28 October at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
It will be 68th edition of the showcase as the world, and where Lionel Messi's successor to the title as best player in the world will be revealed.
The Argentine won his record-extending eighth Golden Ball last year, while Spanish superstar Aitana Bonmati won the latest women's version.

It has also been confirmed that two new awards will be introduced at the ceremony, with the standout tacticians in both the men's and women's game set to be handed the men's coach of the year and women's coach of the year trophies.
This brings the grand total of awards that will be handed out on the night to 10, namely the men's and women's Ballons d'Or, the men's and women's club of the year, the men's and women's coach of the year, the Kopa trophy (awarded to the best young player), the Yachine trophy (awarded to the best goalkeeper), the Gerd Muller trophy (awarded to the best goalscorer) and the Socrates trophy (awarded for a player's commitment to societal or charity projects).

All the nominees for the various awards will be revealed on Wednesday, September 4.
