The Bafana Bafana winger is currently in the final year of his existing deal with the Red Devils. During last season, there was a tremendous amount of speculation regarding the 30-year-old's future and whether he would leave the north African giants but in 2024/25 campaign, he is still a part of playing squad.
Earlier this week, the club's sporting director Mohamed Ramadan revealed that his continuation at the club where he has won 11 trophies is possible but will be contingent on whether head coach Marcel Koller is eager to retain his services.
However, an Al Ahly legend turned media personality Ahmed Shobeir has pulled the curtain back on what the club's plans for the South African star could be.
The former goalkeeper told On Sport FM, "Al Ahly Club will not renew Percy Tau's contract. This will most likely be the last season for the South African player with Al-Ahly."
While Shobeir has claimed that this may very well be the Witbank native's final campaign in the famous red of the Club of the Century, it seems as though Koller still believes in the forward's abilities. The Swiss tactician has started Tau in four of the six matches that Ahly have played to start the 2024/25 season.

He has scored two goals in all of those appearances so far and perhaps if he is able to find the back of the net with regularity, he could position himself to land a new deal at the club.
