A Zamalek board member has criticised fierce rivals Al Ahly for appointing head coach Jose Riveiro two weeks before the FIFA Club World Cup started.
The Egyptian giants failed to make it past the group stages at the Club World Cup after registering two losses and a draw in Riveiro's first three games in charge.

Ahmed Soliman, a board member at Zamalek, feels the interim staff should have taken charge of the team at the tournament in the United States.
"Al-Ahly spent huge sums on its signings, including signing Ahmed Mostafa Zizo for a hefty salary, but the results were disappointing. The team's participation in the World Cup can be described as zero," Soliman said, as per Kooora.
"Zizou did not perform at the expected level, while Spanish coach Jose Ribeiro bears a large part of the responsibility due to his poor reading of the matches."
"Ribeiro's appointment just two weeks before the tournament contributed to the team's inability to adapt to his style, which negatively impacted performance.

"I believe that Emad El-Nahhas, the former technical director and current general coach, would have been a better choice to lead Al Ahly in this tournament."
Soliman concluded his remarks by saying, "Al-Ahly could have performed better in the World Cup, but they suffered from a lack of harmony with the new coach, which led to this disappointing performance in the global tournament.
