Nigeria have reportedly suffered a big blow ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bafana Bafana on Tuesday evening.

Striker Victor Osimhen was taken off in the 35th minute against Rwanda on Saturday evening, as the Super Eagles claimed a 1-0 victory.

However, reports in Nigeria claim that Osimhen will no travel to South Africa with the rest of the squad for Tuesday's vital encounter.

Soccernet.NG reported that the Galatasaray striker woke up with discomfort from the shin injury and will now play no part of the clash against South Africa.

Coach Eric Chelle will now have decision to make about who will start against Hugo Broos' charges, with Cyriel Dessers, Ademola Lookman, and Tolu Arokodare among those who could replace Osimhen.

Arokodare, who recently signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers, came off the bench against Rwanda and netted the winning goal on Saturday evening.

South Africa and Nigeria played to a 1-1 draw when they met in the reverse qualifying fixture last year.
