Mosimane & Queiroz 'Lead' Race To Take Charge Of African Giants

Mosimane & Queiroz 'Lead' Race To Take Charge Of African Giants

Former Bafana Bafana coaches Pitso Mosimane and Carlos Queiroz have been linked with a top job in Egypt.

Former Bafana Bafana head coaches Carlos Queiroz and Pitso Mosimane are reportedly the frontrunners to become the head coach of a top African side.

The two ex-South Africa bosses are currently jobless after their respective stints in the Middle East recently came to an end.

Queiroz was relieved of his duties by the Qatar national team earlier this month, while Mosimane and Al Wahda of the United Arab Emirates parted ways in November.

According to El Dostor Magazine, it is one of the pair whom Egyptian giants Pyramids are looking to appoint as manager in the new year.

The Cairo-based outfit has become disillusioned with the team's recent performances under current boss Jaime Pacheco following a decline in the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Champions League.

Their latest penalty shootout defeat to Modern Future in the Egyptian Super Cup seems to have been the final straw for the club's chiefs as he is expected to be fired from his position after their upcoming league encounter with Ceramica Cleopatra.

Pacheco took over coaching responsibilities at the Air Defence Stadium at the beginning of the year from Greek tactician Takis Gonias, and led the club to its first expedition into the Champions League, but with elimination from the competition looming, it seems the club is willing to take drastic measures in order to sustain their progression as a team.

Unlike many other north African giants at the moment, Pyramids are not cash-strapped and are likely able to afford either Queiroz or Mosimane as they look to bring in either one before the resumption of club matters after the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
