Mayele 'Makes' Decision On New Yanga Deal Amid African Giants' Interest

Young Africans star Fiston Mayele has reportedly responded to the club's latest big-money contract extension offer.

DStv Premiership-linked striker Fiston Mayele has reportedly come to a decision over a new deal at Young Africans in the midst of massive interest from some of Africa's biggest sides.

Fresh off winning the golden boot in both the Tanzanian Premier League with 17 goals and in the CAF Confederation Cup with seven strikes, the Congolese hitman has attracted interest from some of African football's juggernauts.

Egyptian giants Zamalek and Pyramids, and record Tunisian champions Esperance de Tunis are believed to have expressed an interest in the 29-year-old, and it is because of this that Yanga have tried to fend off suitors by offering the attacker a new lucrative contract that would see him earn TSh 34 million (R263 841) a month – double his current earnings.

According to Tanzanian publication Mwanaspoti, however, the Democratic Republic of Congo international is not interested in putting pen to paper on a new deal and has rejected the reigning domestic treble winners' latest offer. The marksman is believed to have instead expressed his desire to leave Wananchi.

The 2022/23 Confederation Cup runners-up are said to be open to a Mayele departure but, according to club president Hersi Said, will only do so under the right circumstances.

"Mayele is a great player, and I'm pleased to see that he is attracting interest from other teams. This demonstrates that Yanga is a top-tier club with exceptional players. If he wishes to leave, we will assess three factors: our desire to retain him, negotiating a fair price, and identifying a suitable replacement," Hersi said, as per Pulse Sports Kenya.

The Mbuji-Mayi native has also been linked with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, and while an exit from Dar es Salaam has been mooted, it remains to be seen who lands his signature.
