Al Ahly Boss Makes Transfer Admission Amid Tau Exit Rumours

Marcel Koller has given an update Al Ahly's transfer plans for the remainder of the transfer window amid rumours of Percy Tau possibly leaving the club.

With rumours that Percy Tau could leave Al Ahly circulating in recent weeks, it seems there is more clarity on the situation after their head coach's latest comments about transfers.

Throughout the off-season, the Witbank native has been the subject of much transfer speculation.

Multiple reports have stated that the Bafana Bafana winger is poised to leave the Cairo International Stadium, with the record African champions believed to be looking to make space for a new foreign player's arrival.

However, it now seems the 30-year-old will see out the remainder of his contract in the Egyptian capital after Ahly head coach Marcel Koller revealed that there are no plans to sign any player in the remainder of the window.

"As of now, we won't add any new players during this transfer window unless an urgent situation occurs," the Swiss tactician told OnTime Sports.

"Since I joined Al Ahly, fans have been fully focused on the finals, especially the cup match against Zamalek, which is understandable.

"Last season, we played many matches and, in the end, we won four titles, which is a great achievement.

"We were under pressure to win every match in the league last season, and this gave each game significant importance."

There were suggestions made that Tau would make way for Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, but after the CAF Men's Interclub Player of the Year netted a brace in the first leg of their second-round preliminary stage victory over Gor Mahia, it seems Ahly are keen on retaining Tau's services.
