Former Mamelodi Sundowns boss Miguel Gamondi claims he is seeking CAF Champions League dominance with Young Africans in the upcoming season.

Last week, the draw for the first and second preliminary stages of the continental tournament took place, with all of Africa's heavyweights discovering their respective routes to group-stage qualification.
While five of the continent's top sides were exempted from the initial round of qualifying, Yanga was not one of those clubs. They will have to go through both preliminary rounds to qualify, and will start against Burundian outfit Vital'O FC.
Last season, Young Africans' Argentine tactician was able to lead the record Tanzanian champions to the quarter-finals of the competition before they were ultimately eliminated by his former club Sundowns.

While they will be expected to make the group stage of the Champions League for the 2024/25 edition, Gamondi has aspirations that go beyond that as he hopes to compete for the illustrious title.
"The goals of the club and myself as a coach are to ensure that the team qualifies for the group stage by winning all our matches. Together with the technical bench, we will develop significant strategies to achieve this," the 57-year-old tactician said, as per The Guardian Tanzania.

"For me, the biggest reason why I am with Yanga is to compete in the CAF Champions League. I want to show the entire continent, and not just Tanzania but Africa specifically, that there are teams here capable of competing with the best in the CAF Champions League."
