Esperance Win Courtesy Of Mokwana Strike

Elias Mokwana scored during Esperance de Tunis' 2-0 victory over Etoile Sportive du Sahel.

Elias Mokwana was on hand to score the final goal for Esperance de Tunis this past weekend as they won 2-0 in their league clash against rivals Etoile Sportive du Sahel.

The Blood and Gold had not won a league encounter since the second matchday of the Ligue Professionnelle 1 before their match on Sunday; during that time, they had drawn three games and lost one.

The defeat to ES Zarzis cost Miguel Cardoso his job, as the Portuguese was axed shortly after, and since then the Taraji have been looking for a replacement.

In the interim, Skander Kasri has been taking charge of the record Tunisian champions, and this past weekend, he was able to mastermind Esperance's third victory of the campaign.

ES Sahel's Zied Boughattas scored an own goal in the 66th minute to open the scoring, but it was Mokwana who put the final nail in the coffin. Apart from his previous appearance for the North African giants, all of the Bafana Bafana winger's appearances for his new club have been from the bench.

Kasri once again utilised the South African international as a substitute, as he replaced Brazilian Yann Sasse in the 82nd minute against L'Etoile, and the four-capped international did not waste time making a meaningful impact.

Mokwana scored four minutes after his arrival on the pitch, ensuring a win for the Tunis-based side. It was the first goal the attacker has scored for the Beast of Africa since joining from Sekhukhune United. The win moves Esperance into sixth place on the log, and after his goal-scoring feats, Mokwana will perhaps be hoping to secure more starting berths for the four-time African champions.
