The Clarets kicked off the 2024/25 campaign on Monday with a stunning 4-1 away victory over Luton Town, who were also relegated to the EFL Championship at the end of last season.

New manager Scott Parker was delighted after the game, admitting it was not easy getting his side up to speed ahead of their first league match.

"It's always a challenge," he said, according to the Burnley Express.

"The biggest challenge is when you come into a new club and a new environment, you're analysing and weighing up things, where the squad are, personnel, individuals.

"I've just tried to set an environment and a culture which is one of being very positive.

"You never really know as a coach until you get to the competitive games. This was a real test for us, but also real learning for me in terms of understanding what this team is about and what they're capable of. That was a big tick for me."

The same publication, the Burnley Express, provided their weekly player ratings following the performance and handed Foster, who assisted his team's fourth goal, an 8/10.

Explaining the rating for the South Africa international, the outlet said: "Might not grab all the headlines but his run for Burnley's fourth deserves so much praise. A hugely unselfish display, always dropping deep to offer an outlet."
