CAF chief Dr. Patrice Motsepe has sent a message to the new president of the Union of North African Football following his win in its latest election.

The South African executive has thrown his weight behind the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) president Gamal Allam after he was triumphant at the latest general assembly of the Union of North African Football in Tunisia.
In an official letter sent by the Tshwane native, the 62-year-old said: "I would like to express my sincere congratulations to you following your election as president of the Union of North African Football, an election that demonstrates the extent of the confidence of the North African federations in your distinguished leadership.
"Please pass on my congratulations to the members of the Executive Committee who elected you. The Confederation of African Football and I will work together to support you and the North African Union in order to develop and develop football in North Africa and on the entire continent."
As a result of his victory, Allam will now hold a position in the executive office of CAF.
While this was not an EFA ceremony, Allam seemingly felt the need to address the dismissal of Rui Vitoria as head coach of Egypt and his disappointing campaign with the Pharaohs at the latest Africa Cup of Nations.
"The public was happy with the level of the team before the African Nations Championship, but what happened there was that the nominated teams were eliminated from the tournament in the round of 16, and this is not an excuse for what happened, but what the Football Association had to do was performed perfectly," he said, as per Al Arab.

"We contracted with Vitoria, wholly responsible for the Football Association, despite some disagreement. His CV was very good, and he was hired and his salary was $140 000 (R2.6 million), and his assistants were $43 000 (R828 500), for a total of $183 000 (R3.5 million)."
