Al Hilal won their first game in Group A after defeating ten-man Al Merreikh 1-0 in the Sudanese derby at Al-Hilal Stadium.

Following a goalless first stanza, Al Merreikh were reduced to ten men early in the second stanza after Emad Ali received a second yellow card and was dismissed.

Al Hilal eventually took advantage after Yasir Mozamil snatched the winner six minutes before time.

Al Hilal equalled Al Merreikh and Al Ahly with four points on the mini-log, although Al Ahly have a game in hand, all three points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Blue Wave will host Sundowns in their penultimate group game next weekend while Al Merreikh will host Al Ahly next Friday in the second last game of the group.

Wydad Casablanca moved two points clear at the top of Group D after edging Zamalek 1-0 at Cairo International Stadium.

The sides were deadlocked at half-time and it took an early second-half penalty Yahya Jabrane to decide the tie, as Wydad held on to clinch back-to-back wins over the White Knights.

Zamalek are without a win, with only two points in third place and will be out of the running for a quarter-final spot if second-placed Petro de Luanda get maximum points against bottom side Sagrada Esperanca on Saturday.

The Egyptian giants' next outing is against Petro next Saturday away, where they could already be out of the running while Wydad will visit Sagrada in their penultimate game next Saturday.

Belouizdad pulled three points clear at the top of Group C after hammering ten-man Jwaneng Galaxy 4-1 at Stade du 5 Juillet 1962.

The Algerian side had a penalty in the 19th minute but Karim Aribi's spot-kick was saved by goalkeeper Anthony Gouws.

However, Belouizdad won another penalty four minutes for a handball by Moagi Sechele in the box and Jwaneng were reduced to ten men after Sechele got a red-card for his trouble.

Mohamed Bekir eventually broke the deadlock for Belouizdad from the spot-kick and Aribi redeemed himself just before the half-time break, as he doubled the lead for the hosts.

Thabang Sesinyi pulled a goal back for Botswana outfit early in the second stanza but Housseyn Selmi restored a two-goal cushion for Belouizdad 20 minutes before time and Kheiredine Merzougui added salt into wound with the fourth goal in stoppage time.

Jwaneng remained without a win at the bottom of the pool, with only one point and will be out of contention if Esperance de Tunis beat Etoile du Sahel on Saturday, before they host ES Tunis in their penultimate game next Saturday.
