Ghana captain Andre Ayew has made a stunning claim after the Black Stars beat Bafana Bafana 1-0 to advance to the play-offs of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night.
The African giants were awarded a dubious penalty in the first half on Sunday, after Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey appeared to fall to the ground following what seemed like minimal contact.
Bafana went on to lose the game in Ghana, a result that has ended Hugo Broos' dream of taking South Africa to the World Cup in Qatar next year.
Despite SAFA having already lodged a complaint with CAF and FIFA, Ghana's skipper Ayew, who scored from 12 yards, claimed after the game that his side should have been given more penalties.
"It was a clear penalty," he said in a post-match press conference, as per My Joy Online.
"In fact, we had chances to get more penalties and should have been given two more.
"I think we had more clear chances. Yes, it was a tough game, but we won this game fair and square. We could have scored more."
Ayew, who plays for Al-Sadd in Qatar, has now made 100 appearances for his country since his senior debut in 2007.
