As we near the new year, more details about the revamped FIFA Club World Cup have been emerging.

Since September, information regarding tournament rules, competition format, and broadcast rights holders has all been disseminated to the public.

News that has also recently been revealed is that of the money that is set to be given to the clubs for their participation in the cup. It was reported that each club will receive $50 million, but according to Ahly treasurer Khaled Mortagy, that is false.

Speaking to Al Ahly TV, he said: "The clubs go 5 days before the tournament with a mission of 55 individuals at FIFA's expense, including flights. What is being said, that the reward reaches 50 million euros, is an exaggeration and incorrect. The good thing is that there is a platform that announced it will provide free broadcasting to all platforms."

Mortagy went on to elaborate on when the clubs will receive their grant money, adding: "Before the draw ceremony, Gianni Infantino explained to us the tournament and its revenues.

"He also told us that all the revenues of this tournament will go to the clubs after deducting expenses and will be divided into two parts: the first for participation only, and the second according to the results."
