According to Yalla Kora, the Italian company that has been tasked with co-ordinating the AFL have sent emails to all the CAF member federations that have clubs participating in the tournament later this month to request that all of the teams make the full capacity of their home stadiums available for the competition.
This includes the EFA, with Ahly set to host the return leg of their quarter-final clash against Simba on 24 October.
Egyptian football's governing body has not allowed stadiums to be completely filled for more than a decade as a consequence of the Port Said massacre in 2012, during which 74 people were killed and more than 500 injured in a riot at Port Said Stadium after a match between El Masry and Al Ahly.
However, the AFL are now said to be pleading with the institution not only to allow the Cairo International Stadium to reach its 75 000 capacity against the Reds of Msimbazi, but for all the return legs the Red Devils could contest to be filled as such during the month-long competition.
The filling of stadiums in the north African nation, specifically of Ahly supporters, has been a controversial topic given the politics linked, so it remains to be seen whether or not the EFA will honour the request.
