Wydad Manager Reacts To AFL Final Defeat To Downs

Adil Ramzi has reacted to Wydad Casablanca's African Football League final defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Wydad Casablanca's head coach has shared his thoughts on his team's African Football League final second-leg defeat to Rulani Mokena's Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday.

Going into Sunday's match 2-1 behind on aggregate, Sundowns were able to turn the tie around at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday following goals from Peter Shalulile and Aubrey Modiba to make it 3-2 over two legs

With FIFA president Gianni Infantino and CAF chief Patrice Motsepe present, the South African champions marched on comfortably to victory in the tournament's first-ever edition, with Mokwena securing his first continental trophy as head coach.

Wydad's Adil Ramzi, meanwhile, believes Sundowns were helped by being in better shape physically on the day and ultimately deserved to get their hands on the title.

"Sundowns were fresher than us and they won the title, congratulations to them! It was the physical condition that played a role in this match," he said, according to Afrik Foot.

"They deserve to win, that's football! It's not a penalty or VAR that makes us lose the match. Sundowns simply had more freshness.

"We analysed Sundowns' previous performances. So we weren't surprised today. This evening, they combined quality and freshness.
