The Elephants' 2-0 loss to Morocco confirmed their exit from the tournament two years after Manchester City's Toure led his country to victory in the competition.

The midfielder, who retired from international duty last year, has called for his country to remain upbeat despite their disappointing display in Gabon.

"Let's stay strong and humble in the face of defeat," he wrote on Facebook.

"We must be able to get up and go back to more beautiful. The failure of today must correct our mistakes for the next competitions.

"Strength to all our young players of the national selection.

"This new generation will win one day."
