Two-time African Footballer of the Year Mohamed Salah headlines Egypt's final 23-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Pharaohs became the host nation of the 2019 AFCON tournament after Cameroon were stripped of their right to host the spectacle by CAF, with the Central African nation having fallen behind in their preparations for the tournament.
Mexican manager Javier Aguirre initially named a 25-man provisional squad for the tournament, but has since dropped two stars in Mohamed Abou-Gabal and Ahmed Aboul-Fetouh, both of whom play for Egyptian club Smouha.
The final squad includes three Premier League stars in Salah, Mohamed Elneny and Ahmed Elmohamady.
Watch: Malawi vs South Africa COSAFA Cup Highlights Turkey-based midfielder Mahmoud Trezeguet was also called up, along with Amr Warda, who is reportedly set to join relegated Bundesliga outfit FC Nurnberg. Olympiacos forward Ahmed Hassan Kouka, West Bromwich Albion centre-back Ahmed Hegazi and Portugal-based star Ali Ghazal are the other overseas-based players in the squad.The majority of the players in the Egypt squad ply their trade domestically, with one representative each from Ismaily and Arab Contractors, and four stars from Al Ahly and Zamalek, while Pyramids FC have the most entries with five stars representing them.
Elmohamady, who is the most experienced player in the team with 86 caps under his belt, was named the team's captain by Aguirre.
The seven-time AFCON winners have been placed in Group A alongside DR Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe, and will kick off their campaign with a clash against Khama Billiat's Zimbabwe on 21 June.
