To make matters worse, star man Mohamed Salah was forced off with an injury in the first shortly before Ghana opened the scoring.
Former Al Ahly defender Wael Gomaa did not hold back on the coach and ElNeny who has barley featured for Arsenal this season.
"Rui Vitoria is simply not the right fit to be Egypt's head coach," Gomaa told beIN Sports.
"He doesn't know how to get the best out of this group.
"His team selection has question marks all over it again. With all due respect to Mohamed Elneny, how does he get another start in this competition?
"I have nothing against him, but it's clear that he lacks match fitness and can't perform his defensive duties as a holding midfielder.
"I don't understand Vitoria's approach to games. The team has no identity,"
