We take a look at some of the finest players that are playing and that have played until over the age of 35 years old.
Mario Yepes
At the age of 38-years-old, Mario Yepes is still going strong for San Lorenzo de Almagr. He previous played for the likes of AC Milan, Paris Saint Germain and River Plate. Whats impressive is that Yepes continues to captain Colombia and had an impressive World Cup with them.
Ryan Giggs
Ryan Giggs' longevity is well documented. At 40 years of age, the Welshman played in every Premier League season. The most amazing thing about Giggs is his consistency and how he continues to make regular contributions to the club, but this time as an assistant. He even made a big contribution to Team Great Britain at the Olympics, appearing in every match and captaining the side.
Paolo Maldini
The Milan skipper is one of the longest lasting players to have played the beautiful game. Having spent his whole career tied to one club, Maldini only landed up retiring from his duties at the age of 40. With the Rossoneri he landed up winning five Champions League titles, and a number of Scudetti.
Mark Schwarzer
Mark Schwarzer is currently playing third fiddle at Chelsea, as he has seen Petr Cech lose his number one spot this season. Schwarzer is also a stalwart for the Australian national team, where he continues to start regularly. He started all the games for Australia at the World Cup this season and was quite impressive as always.
David Beckham
Kind of fitting that David Beckham would be on this list, as he was sort of forgotten when he moved to the MSL and made cameo appearances for Milan and PSG. His right foot, knowledge on the pitch and top-flight experience always made him a very sought-after commodity until he retired at the age of 38.
