In all seriousness, I think that our Italian midfielder, Marco Verratti, is the most promising midfielder in Europe right now. The 21-year-old has already picked up two Man of the Match performances in Ligue 1 this season. And, realistically, who can boast as fine form as him at the moment?
He has, so far, achieved a pass success rate of 93.6% and averages 3.5 tackles and one interception every game. He also picked up one assist and has made five key passes, completing 11 successful dribbles.
I mean, those are the best statistics for any central midfielder in Europe this season. Even Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic has only managed a pass success rate of 92.9% and many people consider him as the finest passer in the game, after he displaced the legendary Xavi in their starting 11.
It may only be the start of the season, but Verratti has really impressed me and I hope he goes from strength to strength.
