Right-back Siyanda Zwane has come out in full praise of his captain, Alje Schut, in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, saying that Schut has been a true professional to the club and will leave a last impression even after he leaves for his home country, Holland, at the end of the season.
The right-back has been fortunate enough to play alongside Schut in recent times, as he was given the nod more often following the shifting of fellow right-back Ramahlwe Mphahlele was to centre-back.
When asked what impact Schut has in the dressing room, Zwane said, “When people talk about a captain, they talk about someone wearing an armband, but that guy is something else. What a leader! What a player he is! He leads by example, in training sessions and in games.”
Zwane went on to say that Schut is a wonderful person and the team would never stand in his way with regards to his decision of leaving at the end of the campaign.
“That guy is a true professional. I wish he was staying. He’s a big player for us. You can see his contribution in the team… the way he plays, the way he gives his best in each and every game,” he said.
“He’s even scoring goals for us for us. He’s an amazing individual and a great person. I just wish he was staying, but if he decides he has to go, we cannot go against that. There are other things that are more important, as I heard something about his family and his kids. I will respect his decision, but it will be a huge loss for us,” he further said.
Reflecting on Zwane's sentiments on Schut, do you feel the Dutchman's depature will affect the team badly?
