Osimhen Open To Shock Transfer Destination?

Osimhen Open To Shock Transfer Destination?

Victor Osimhen is reportedly open to making a surprise move should a transfer to one of Europe's top sides fail to materialise.

With no official offers yet to come from Europe's biggest sides, Victor Osimhen could now reportedly be open to making a move to a surprise destination.

The Nigerian marksman has been the subject of much transfer speculation for some time now. Even during the 2023/24 campaign, there was plenty of speculation swirling in the rumour mill regarding the 25-year-old's potential departure from Napoli.

That was until he signed a new contract with Gli Azzurri halfway into the campaign, which ensured he was tied down at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona until 2026.

While the rumours were not as rampant thereafter, there were still murmurings of clubs interested in signing him regardless, and in this transfer window, the most forthcoming side were Paris Saint-Germain.

With Les Parisiens keen on reconstructing their frontline following Kylian Mbappe's departure, it seemed the French giants had earmarked Osimhen as one of the players who could off-set the France captain's recent exit.

While PSG reportedly managed to reach an agreement with the reigning CAF Men's Player of the Year over a potential move, though, negotiations over a transfer fee with the Italian side have come to a halt.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, as a consequence of PSG's refusal to pay Osimhen's mooted release clause, Napoli insisted that the Ligue 1 champions include Kang-in Lee in any deal for the Nigerian.

However, the record French champions harbour no plans of doing that, and talks for Osimhen's transfer have thus halted.

The same report states, though, that irrespective of the recent PSG talks stopping, the Lagos native is determined to leave Napoli, and could even consider making the switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Most teams in the oil-rich kingdom would seemingly have no issue paying Osimhen's release clause, and it now appears that if clubs in Europe fail to reach a compromise with the three-time Serie A champions, then a move to one of the Public Investment Fund-owned sides could be on the cards for the African superstar.
