With only three points separating the Glamour Boys from the 2014/2015 Absa Premiership title, we as fans can no doubt be happy with our team's performances this season.
One of the hallmarks of the current success is the continuity within the starting XI for the team. With coach Stuart Baxter plotting and planning behind the scenes, his methods of using more or less the same starting line-up worked at the end of the day.
When match day approached, it appeared as if the fans had the team sheet before anyone else because they knew who would, and who wouldn’t make the starting XI. That was the extent of how constant the starting XI was.
Despite the team being unchanged for most part of the season, we were by no means predictable in our style of play, with Baxter and the players adapting to each situation ever so well.
The only two real problems we faced this season was in the goalkeeping and striking department, and in spite of that, we managed to pull through and did well in addressing these issues.
Brilliant Khuzwayo did a pretty good job in replacing Itumeleng Khune for the vast majority of the first half of the season while he was out injured. We also never suffered too much upfront because the midfielders put up their hands - with names like Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Mandla Masango, George Maluleka and George Lebese getting amongst the goals.
Many fans felt that playing with the same players game in and game out would tire the squad as a whole, but that was not the case as they managed to come this far without feeling the wrath of fatigue.
With that said, do you feel this was the main factor in our title charge?
